We often underestimate the power of blueberries but they could be the real key to low blood pressure and overall good health.
|A handful of these can make you feel better.|
|Feeling high? Try blueberries!|
Research done by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics have revealed that blueberry smoothie added into the daily diet of post-menopausal women can lead to a 5% decrease in systolic blood pressure and 6% decrease in diastolic blood pressure. There's also a 69% decrease in the blood levels of nitric oxide, which ultimately leads to better blood flow through the widening of blood vessels.
This decrease could be attributed to the potent flavanoid antioxidant, such as anthocyanins, which is relevant to the production of nitric oxide and reduces inflammation.
If you don't like your blueberries plain, here's a simple recipe that will make you like them:
- 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 banana
- 8oz to 8-1/2oz of hemp milk
- 1 tablespoon of almond butter
- Combine all the ingredients in blender until smooth.
- You may add additional milk and blend again if the smoothie is too thick.
Try this smoothie in the morning and check if it will lower your blood pressure. But don't discontinue medications prescribed by your doctor. If anything surfaces, consult your doctor.
