Benefits of Avocado
Dieticians claim that it is not necessary to take avocados as part of a special weight loss program. You can just prepare a recipe or consume them with fruit salad or green salad. The fruit is rich in mono-unsaturated fats, which plays a key role in weight loss by making you feel filled. It is also free from sodium and cholesterol.
Ingredients in Avocado – Avocado contains almost two dozen minerals and vitamins, most notably lutein, folate and potassium. The only kind of fat contained in the fruit is mono-unsaturated fat, which is considered as ‘good’ fat because it helps by reducing blood cholesterol levels.
The fruit also contains high amount of vitamin B, which is an essential ingredient for fighting diseases. The presence of vitamin C, E and other antioxidants further help in preventing cancer.
Avocado Fruit Salad
Avocado can be best enjoyed in a rich and nutritious fruit salad. The main ingredients of this fruit salad are as following:
- Bananas – 2
- Oranges – 3
- Avocados – 2
- Strawberries – 300 g
- Honey – 2 tsp
- Orange liqueur – 1 cup
- Vanilla sugar – 1 pack
- Nutmeg – As per requirement
The health benefits of these different ingredients are as following:
Orange – This fruit is free from cholesterol or fats, and is very low on calories. It is rich in pectin, a soluble fiber, and in vitamin C. Both vitamin C and A combined with other antioxidants in oranges help in preventing cancer. Some of the powerful flavonoids in the fruit include lutein, zea-xanthin, beta-cryptoxanthin, and alpha/beta-carotenes.
Strawberry – This fruit is rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid, fiber, potassium, and manganese. In fact, the rich red color of strawberries is because of high percentage of flavanoids and phytonutrients that have been used for centuries for help fight digestive disorders and skin problems.
Strawberry has also been helpful in keep teeth clean and healthy. The high level of fructose and fiber content is associated with controlling glucose and make you feel satiated, thus preventing you from overeating.
Banana – Just like avocado, Banana is considered as a superfood. And like orange and strawberry, it provides energy and refreshes your tissue and cells. It contains only trace amounts of sodium, cholesterol, and saturated fats, but rich in vitamin C, fiber, manganese, vitamin B6, and potassium.
How to Prepare Avocado Fruit Salad for Weight Loss?
Use the following method for preparing your weight loss salad:
- Take the oranges, peel them, and slice into thin pieces.
- Boil nutmeg, vanilla sugar and honey for a couple of minutes, and let it cool (to create sweet syrup).
- Slice the avocados in half (across its length) and remove the seed.
- Cut the bananas into round pieces after peeling them.
- Mix the sliced banana pieces with orange an avocado.
- Slice the strawberries in half and add to the mixture.
- Mix the liqueur and sweet syrup and pour over the salad.
- Prepare and enjoy the fruit salad to reduce weight.
